Sanctify Yourself
In life we prepare ahead of time for the things we cherish. We prepare to possess what belongs to us. It is therefore expedient that you prepare to possess what the LORD has for you in the year ahead. Preparation is necessary to possess the future.
When God wanted to reveal Himself to Israel, He instructed Moses to sanctify the people:
“ And the LORD said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes, And be ready against the third day: for the third day the LORD will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.”(Exodus 19:10-11)
God demanded that the people sanctify themselves, wash their clothes and be ready to meet Him because He would come down in their sight. You have to sanctify yourself if you desire to experience God.
To sanctify yourself is to separate yourself from anything that is evil or sinful and set yourself apart for God and the right things. It is to consecrate yourself to the Lord.
Again, when Israel was about to cross the River Jordan into the promised land, God gave a similar instruction to the people to sanctify themselves:
“ And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” Then Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, “Take up the ark of the covenant and cross over before the people.” So they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people.”(Joshua 3:5-6 NKJV)
Your life and future is more important than food and pleasure. Make it your number one priority to sanctify yourself before crossing over into the New Year. Meet God in prayer, confess your sins, ask for forgiveness and forsake them. Forgive those who have hurt you and let go any spiritual weight in the form of bitterness, anger, laziness, laxity, resentment and unholy relationships.
As part of your New Year resolutions, decide to please God, seek His Kingdom first and wholeheartedly serve Him.
The instruction is “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.”
Your tomorrow is next week, next month, and next year. Your tomorrow is the next chapter of your life in the year 2026. Prepare through sanctification.
May you experience the presence, power and wonders of God as you sanctify yourself in preparation for the New Year in Jesus Mighty Name. AMEN
